Résumé du livre
Transcript of the lecture given by Rimaldo Giurgola as part of the Lunchtime Lectures at Regatta series, from the National Capital Authority. Giurgola was an Italian-born Australian academic and architect who designed Australia's Parliament House and other landmark projects. Here he discusses his ideas for the development of Canberra as a city, combining elements of the supposed rigidly planned 'artificial' city and the potentially uncontrolled 'natural' city. "Canberra has been conceived on a significant ideology, and as a place built and related to the land, rather than as an imposition on it. This principle is worthy of perpetuation, and from it derive the naturalness, the habitability, and the beauty of this extraordinary place."
