Résumé du livre
Presents results of a survey of post-secondary graduates from the class of 1995 who moved to the United States between graduation and summer 1997 (excluding those who were exclusively US citizens returning to the US after studying in Canada). The graduates were surveyed to obtain information on their characteristics, reasons for relocating to the US, education & work experience, and plans for the future. After an introduction on the survey, section 2 estimates the magnitude of the flow of 1995 graduates to the US and addresses how this group compared with graduates who remained in Canada. The third section traces in a chronological manner the experiences of graduates as they made the move to the US. Section 4 pulls together aspects of the various job-related information collected to give a broader picture of the graduates' labour market situation from the time before relocation to the time of the survey in March 1999. A comparison between jobs held by graduates who moved to the US and those who remained in Canada is also included. The final section summarizes some major findings and offers conclusions based on the survey results.
