The Kothmanns of Texas, 1845-1991

Heinrich Conrad Kothmann (1798-1881) was born at Wedelheine, Hannover, Germany, the son of Hennig Heinrich Kothmann. He married Johanne Sophie Woilters Kothmann, widow of his eldest brother, Heinrich Wilhelm Kothmann, in 1824. They had two children, 1824?-1825. She died in 1831. He married 2) Ilse Katherine Pahlmann (1810-1905), daughter of Johan Hennig Pahlamnn. They had nine children, 1832- 1852. The family immigrated to Texas in 1845, stayed a few months at Galveston, Texas, then settled near Fredericksbug, Texas. They moved to land at Upper Willow Creek, now called Art, Texas, in 1856. Most descendants live in Texas.
