This work offers an introduction to the study of literature for both potential majors and non-majors. The opening section of the text outlines both traditional and alternative genres of literary study; the middle section demystifies and discusses critical theory; and the third section guides students through the rigorous but rewarding process of writing about literature critically, creatively and with research.
