The Acc13.036 instalment comprises papers documenting the life of Ellis as intelligence officer and writer. They include: notes; a manuscript (for a British Security Coordination (BSC) book); news cuttings; articles; correspondence, including letters of condolence after Ellis died; family history papers; and Ellis' published works. One file relates to Chapman Pincher's book, Their trade is treachery, in which the author claimed that Ellis worked for Soviet Intelligence whilst with the BSC. It includes a letter from Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher to Ellis' daughter, Ann Salwey, in reply to her request to publicly exonerate Ellis of the accusation (2 boxes, 1 small fol. box).
