Field notes Vol. 427 documents Howard Samuel Irwin and Thomas R. Soderstrom's botanical collecting in Brazil in 1964 on a New York Botanical Garden expedition. Specimens were collected as part of the Planalto do Brasil project, with most locations in the cerrados of Distrito Federal, Goiás, Mato Grosso, and Minas Gerais. The notebook contains a list of specimen numbers 5001-7656, collected July-November 1964. The list contains specimen number, number of sheets, field identification, description, frequency, and herbarium determination. Collection locations and dates are also noted. Six loose pages of notes are also included. Many of Irwin's original field notes are located in Field notes Vol. 341.
