Auxiliary Spheres of Common Spheroids

The concept of a sphere auxiliary to a spheroid (ellipsoid of revolution) is defined, seven common spheroids are identified, and six auxiliary spheres are discussed for each of the spheroids. The radii of these forty-two spheres are tabulated in metres and in nautical miles. Mathematical definitions of the quantities discussed are given.
