Résumé du livre

This book came about as a result of stories our Cousin Leslie told to his cousins and their children and grandchildren over many years. We realized Cousin Leslie had good stories to tell that we wanted to preserve. We convinced him to write these experiences, with our assistance. Robert Leslie Smith of Latham, Alabama, told the first half of these memories of his 1941 through 1945 service in Woldr War II to Dalton James Smith, who recorded and organized them in April, May, June, and July, 2008. After our Cousin Leslie got started in his remembrance, he wrote many of the last parts himself. D. Jerry Sherrell helped to secure pictures from the National World War II Museum in New Orleans where Robert Leslie Smith had deposited them. Jerry also helped with captioning the pictures, with pre-publication editing, and publication.djs. Unless otherwise noted, all photographs and other graphics included in this memoir were taken from the Robert Leslie Smith Collection at the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana.
