To avoid capture by the Communists Dušan joined the 2nd Toplica Gvozdeni Puk as they marched past his family's home on Sept. 1, 1944. It was Milan's sixteenth birthday. Wanting to be with his brother, Milan followed in his footsteps, promising their mother they should be home in a few weeks. Little did he know that he would not see home again for twenty-three years...
