The Ira Moore Barton Papers consist almost entirely of records of his legal practice during the period of his partnership with Peter C. Bacon. Leading correspondents include Bacon, George Bliss, Henry Chapin, Thomas Kinnicutt, Levi Lincoln, Pliny Merrick, Rejoice Newton, Bradford Sumner, Emory Washburn, and Samuel Bayard Woodward. There is also a folder of Civil War letters, a letterbook for his legal partnership for the period 1845-1847, legal ledgers and dockets, and three volumes of ledgers reflecting the legal career of William Sumner Barton, 1847-1854.
