On one level a deceptively simple tale of adventure, Anushka is a novella that prompts the reader to enter a much deeper space. Dissatisfied with her life, Anushka is challenged to make something more of it on a visit to Tabushka, the wise seer of her neighbourhood. However, her specific task is one that confuses rather than encourages her. It is only when she can see no other way forward than to engage with it that she determines to go on a journey to satisfy its demands. The expedition takes her to unknown lands, leads to meetings with remarkable characters and makes her question everything she has previously known. By turns engaging, suspenseful and impassioned, Anushka delights, entertains and resonates on powerful emotional levels.
