Résumé du livre

Juan Belmonte, named after a famous bullfighter, is a former South American Marxist guerrilla who now works as a bouncer at a seedy Hamburg strip joint. One day he is approached by an old man in a wheelchair who makes him an offer he cannot refuse. During World War II, he is told, two German police officers stole precious medieval coins from the German treasury and hid them somewhere in Chile. Now, fifty years later, they are trying to cash in on their fabulous loot. Belmonte must recover the gold coins for the old man in return for medical treatment for his beloved, who was brutally tortured by Chilean soldiers. At the same time, Frank Galinsky, ex-operative for Stasi, the defunct East German intelligence agency, is out of work, broke, without prospects, and abandoned by his wife. He is approached by his former superior, the Major, who tells him of the stolen coins and offers him a chance to relive old glories by retrieving the gold coins. The chase is on. Full of suspense and surprising revelations, The Name of a Bullfighter is an intricately crafted, engrossing novel.
