Résumé du livre
"For seventy years, Jean Paul Barbier-Mueller loved poetry and books. In forty years, he published the catalogue of the most important collection of Renaissance poetry books ever assembled, Ma bibliothèque poétique. This catalogue has become a standard in many libraries. In addition to precise bibliographical descriptions, Jean Paul Barbier-Mueller always added biographical and historical elements to his notices, and he wanted to develop in a dictionary a mass of information drawn from rare documents, introductory pieces, dedicatory epistles, etc. With the help of Nicolas Ducimetière and Marine Molins, he therefore wrote a Dictionary of French Poets of the Second Half of the 16th Century, which will have nearly five thousand pages in six volumes. He thus brought out of the shadows a large number of little-known poets of the 16th century, more than five hundred, while providing around forty major notices on major poets. Each author is placed in the historical context of his adult life and his region (political situation, religious wars, etc.). Genealogies and biographical notes of influential figures, French and foreign, or military leaders, sung by "his" poets, are given" --
