"Jake, a big boned fifteen year old, lives and works on his uncle Frank's farm in rural Missouri. He's a smart kid. Smarter than smart. Likes to read the classics and books on war and science. Especially chemistry. Because his uncle Frank likes his booze, Jake does the work on the farm of "two growed men" as he puts it. His two favorite books . 'The Odyssey' by Homer, which he's checked out at school four times. And 'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu, which the school won't let him check out on account of his age. But every day at school, he goes to the library and reads from it. His days start at 4 a.m. First the chores, then breakfast, then awaken Uncle Frank. Then a shower, then clean clothes, then off to school. But this day, an event at school happens, that will change his life forever. Convicted of murder and sent to Juvenile Corrections, he awaits his 16th birthday, for the state to transfer him to Missouri State Penitentiary, to be put to death by lethal injection. He decides he has to escape. So he applies all of his skills and knowledge he's learned and hatches a plan. Will Jake escape to freedom; or will he get caught?"
