The first 3 volumes consist of listing of the descendants of 96 immigrants named Fullerton, Fullington, Fullarton, etc. These 96 groups are designated "clans" and are numbered 1-162 (some are the numbers are "vacant"). There is also a designation of some mini-clans and, in v. 4, clan 200--"miscellaneous clan" all of which appear to be small or larger groups of this surname which cannot be linked to one of the immigrant ancestors
