John Morton (1803-1878) was born in Cupar, Fifeshire, Scotland, the son of John and Margaret Turple Morton. He married Jean/Jane Barclay (1804-1884) in 1830 in the parish of Abdie, Fifeshire. They had seven children, 1832-1847, born in Abdie. The family immigrated to the United States in 1855 and settled first in Livingston County, New York, and migrated to Rock County, Wisconsin, the following year. Descendants listed lived in Wisconsin, Illinois, and elsewhere.
