The sequel to Aurian and the second volume of The Artefacts of Power. Aurian is pregnant, and unaware of the curse laid upon her unborn child. She relies more and more upon the demismage Anvar, while the evil Archmage, Miathan, plots to destroy all opposition and take Aurian for himself.
