Résumé du livre
Statistics representing social and economic conditions in 125 developed and developing countries with populations of more than one million are presented. The booklet presents a series of maps, charts, graphs and tables representing separate sections on life expectancy, adult literacy rate, population growth rate, gross national product per capita, and merchandise exports, and giving data on other social and economic indicators as well. The accompanying teacher's guide presents learning activities for secondary students who are studying world geography, world history, economics, or current affairs. Activities are organized into sections corresponding with the sections in the data booklet. Within these sections, activities are grouped as follows: understanding the indicator, interpreting the map, understanding the charts, thinking about what you have learned, and supplementary activities. Culminating activities are followed by outline maps of the world, Latin America, and the Carribean; Southern Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa; and Asia and the Pacific. The guide concludes with a comparative data table and foreign trade chart worksheet. (LH)
