The demand for sustainability is in reality far more demanding than is generally assumed. Alternative perspectives are necessary to enforce them. Lukas Vischer falls back on the concept of a responsible society, which played an important role in the beginning of the ecumenical movement. It shows how this concept combines the struggle for social justice and the concern for creation. It also analyzes the relationship between human rights and future viability.
