At the most fundamental level, all of chemistry is a reflection of the ways in which electrons and nuclei interact with each other. The behaviour of electrons and nuclei are controlled by the rules of quantum mechanics - rules which are quite unlike those in the familiar world of classical mechanics, and which may at first seem quite complex.
