Sosme of the letters to Miss Cornell deal with Williams' effort in trying to persuade her to appear in his play, "The Corn is Green." There is much about his writing and life contained in this series of candid letters. It would appear that Miss Cornell finally did consent to do the play. Speaking of a play by another writer, Williams warns: "I absolutely agree that it would be perfect if you could come back in a new play, but this one is -- to me -- emphatically not the one. I know I sound like Noel [Coward] wagging his finger, but Kit -- don't - do - it! ..."
