I have been a Minister with Churches of Christ in Australia since 1979. For most of that period my sermon presentation has followed the Revised Common Lectionary. Each week the local church would publish a church paper to communicate with the membership. For many of those years I would submit an Introduction to, or a summary of the sermon I was presenting that day. I felt that this would help people engage with the teaching for a little longer than the 20 plus minutes on Sunday morning.

This collection of summaries from Matthew’s Gospel is the first of what I hope will be a series of reflections on the Gospels based on those week by week reflections. Not every passage from the gospel is covered because I have not prepared a sermon on every passage. Even some of these have been prepared using the ‘magic’ of Artificial Intelligence’.

I hope that you will find this collection helpful as a daily reading companion, a Bible Study tool or just a challenging read as you engage with the Gospel of Matthew
