ES/1/2-6 `Church Scheme' forms filled in by Benjamin Webb, May 1839-Sept 1841 (5v., printed proforma with ms. entries): containing on-the-spot descriptions of 142 medieval parish churches in England and Wales (many of which have subsequently been restored or destroyed). These particular forms were filled in by Benjamin Webb, who was usually accompanied on his church visiting tours by John Mason Neale. Many of them record details of the structure, stained glass windows, monuments, brasses and other furnishings and occasionally there are comments on the state of repair of the buildings.
