Résumé du livre
This is a fictitious novel set in 1940. After Dunkirk, Hitler decided to implement Operation Sealion, the invasion of Britain. It tells the story of this invasion and of a team of Auxiliary Home Guard. These Auxiliaries were left behind by the British government to fight the Germans from within, but the Senior Officers of these men believed that it was a suicide mission and that they would be dead within 14 days. Matt Fletcher was the officer in command of 5 men who initially had to stay in a bunker on the South coast in Sussex, whilst the German and British armies fought. The German army progressed on up the country eventually taking London. Matt and his men sabotaged Bridges, Troop convoys to the front and goods yards containing equipment and weapons, along with capturing weapons and killing German troops. They had a camp of British Prisoners nearby and they managed to get contact with them. They armed the prisoners and when the British army manage to force the Germans back to the coast the prisoners, along with the auxiliaries, capture the local towns and helped with the German surrender. Matt and his team also had to deal with traitors and the loss of team members by the Germans. They see, first hand, the barbaric treatment the Germans dish out to civilians and people they thought were involved with the resistance fighters. They became aware of other disappearances that were of concern by members of his team and other people who were involved with them. This story is about heroism, bravery and acts that go beyond the call of duty. Even meeting a girl and falling in love caused unforeseen dangers but this would not dampen the spirit of Matt or his team. It also shows how normal people, in times of peril, will assist others for a cause. This novel it is about the retaking of their country and patriotism.
