"Art as Research" describes the methodology, assumptions and results of a project to produce a documentary video film on the Middle East entitled, "Many Voices, One Song; What Promise in the Promised Land?". the manuscript looks at the project as a piece of research, placing the work in the field of peace studies as seen through the model of Multi-Track Diplomacy, and in the field of documentary film on the Middle East. the document considers how this film is a unique contribution to the field in its balance, its weaving of personal with political, its spiritual overtones and its blueprint for a peace process that arises from the natural expertise of the people who live the conflict daily. It provides as well a critical analysis of the film and a bibliography.
