Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) comprises two idiopathic chronic

relapsing and remitting inflammatory disorders of the gastrointestinal

tract: ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Understanding of the

etiopathogenesis of IBD, and how best to treat it, continues to advance
