This source book provides developing countries and countries with economies in transition with information sources and selected technologies relating to environmentally sound management of municipal solid waste (MSW) - separation at source, collection, transport, storage and treatment, disposal, management of disposal sites, and recycling. The main objective is to prepare a thorough inventory of available information sources but is also to include an analysis of sound practices of innovative and cost-effective technologies as well as strategic planning of the integrated MSW system.
