Résumé du livre
"I am greatly honoured by the invitation of the Trustees to deliver the A. S. Peake Memorial Lecture during the Methodist Conference in the city of Birmingham in 1969. I am the more so because this is the second time this honour has been conferred upon me. The earlier occasion was in 1960, when the subject was Principles of Biblical Interpretation, in which I sought to indicate the main stress of Peake’s teaching, recognizing that the things for which he stood were still in need of renewed emphasis. This year, 1969, is the fortieth anniversary of Peake’s death, and, in this time of biblical and theological uncertainty, it seemed a fitting thing to present the same emphasis again, but to do so on the background of his life and times." --
