This general store ledger, for the period 1825 to 1837, is arranged by lists of customers in Worcester and in surrounding towns. Most entries refer to transactions entered in some other volume(s) so that the nature of the transactions cannot be determined. Several women had their own accounts, however, and it is through these individuals that one can determine which goods were stocked. Joseph S. Hastings' account is particularly interesting for the substantial loans he took out during the period October 1833 to December 1834. The first page contains a brief account of events such as boarding arrangements and employees' arrivals; the very last pages record small debts due, 1829 to 1832. Two separate indexes accompany the volume, both of which refer to this ledger.
