Résumé du livre
Correspondence from William Henry Brewer to John Torrey, dated 1862-1870, discussing primarily California plants and the California Geological Survey. From San Francisco in 1862-1863 Brewer writes of areas where he has found Darlingtonia californica, and proudly reports having harvested some seeds and sent them to various botanists around the country; from Cambridge, Masachusetts in 1869 he discusses various California plants he is describing for the Geological Survey report he is writing. From New Haven in 1870 he writes to Torrey about the fate of the California Geological Survey, and asks Torrey to write in support of its continued existence. Obsolete and uncontrolled plant names mentioned include Guttenbergia, Ledum, Marah muricata, Megarrhiza, and Sedum edule.
