Résumé du livre

Results from an array of 17 pressure gauges covering the region from Nain Bank to the Grand Bank are presented and discussed. Complex empirical orthogonal functions are used to demonstrate the large scale nature of the sub-tidal pressure changes in this region: 80% or more of the total variance over the 17 records is contained in the first two empirical modes. Separate analysis of the four gauges across Nain Bank show that after an estimate of the "offshore" influence is removed, 95% of the remaining energy in the four gauges is contained in the first empirical mode. The empirical mode is taken to represent the coastally trapped wave energy entering the measurement domain across Nain Bank.
