Résumé du livre

When ex-police dog handler Daniel Whelan is asked by his former boss to help a friend who is struggling to run her husband’s haulage company while he is recovering from a vicious attack, he and his dog, Taz, rapidly find themselves attracting the wrong sort of attention.

There is dissent amongst the drivers and Daniel learns that a number of employees have been pressured into leaving; however, they all refuse to talk about it. Daniel’s investigation soon brings him into conflict with the foreman who comes from a notorious local family, and all the evidence points to them being involved in some very nasty business indeed; business they will do anything to protect.

Disgusted by what he discovers, and meeting with a lack of interest in official quarters, Daniel sets out to bring the criminals to justice, but after several violent warnings, he begins to wonder ... Has he bitten off more than he can chew?
