Résumé du livre
"The objective of this project is to investigate the Z-Link Suspension System. The idea was conceived by a Mr. A. Hocking. The idea of interconnecting suspension systems is not new. There are many systems that are interconnected. The chief reason for interconnecting suspension systems is to reduce pitching of the vehicle by inducing it to bounce. Pitching is the rotation of the vehicle about an axis perpendicular to the direction of travel. As pitching is a more uncomfortable motion to the human body than bounce, interconnected systems induce the vehicle to bounce rather than pitch. Many of todays vehicle manufacturers aim for suspension systems that provide passenger comfort and vehicle stabilty. It is difficult to achieve the optimum of these two characteristics as one cannot be achieved without sacrifice to the other. Interconnecting of the suspension system is a means of provid ing a comfortable ride without too great a sacrifice to handling. The major problem with interconnected suspension systems is the loss of fore and aft stability. On braking for example there must be consideration given to the pitching of the vehicle as this is most undesirable. The aim of this report is to investigate the Z-Link suspension system and draw conclusions on its feasibility as an alternative suspension system."--Abstract/Synopsis.
