Résumé du livre
This is the catalogue of an exhibition of nine steel sculptures installed at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia's newly designated Sculpture Gallery. The works range from 3.5 to 7 metres long and were fabricated by Cal Lane by flame cutting steel I-beams into intricate patterns reminiscent of lace making. The text discusses such issues as ornamentation & decoration, the use of domestic crafts in fine art, the techniques used to create the works, the modernist tradition in sculpture, and the influence of feminism in sculpture.
