GoE/1-3/2 Some of Godwin's papers relating to his architectural practice, some of it in partnership with Henry Crisp as Godwin & Crisp, 1860-1886 (3 boxes): including letters, contracts, specifications of works, bills of quantities and accounts. The projects include the Bristol Assize Courts competitions, 1866-1867; the Leicester Town hall competition, 1871; alterations, additions and design of furniture at Dromore Castle, Co. Limerick, Irish Republic, 1867-1869; minor works at Castle Ashby House, Northants, 1868-1870; an unexecuted scheme for a 'Greek Church, Notting Hill', 1873 [probably intended for the site in Moscow Road, London W2, on which John Oldrid Scott (1841-1913) built his Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in 1877]; houses in Tite Street, London SW3, 1878-1881; an unexecuted project for a Lancaster Club and apartment block in Savoy Street, Westminster, for the Metropolitan Mansions Company, 1880; alterations, including a new entrance, to the Fine Arts Society's premises, 148 New Bond Street, London W1; a proposed new Brighton Clubhouse and Cafe Royal at Brighton, E Sussex, 1882, and a house [called 'Emsleigh'] in Dallington Park, Northants, 1882.
