For close to a decade and a half the Philpotts have been getting under the skin of musical artistes. Picking up on glaring errors in their lyrics or sometimes getting completely the wrong end of the stick (perhaps to irritate things a little further) they totally misunderstand the meaning of 'poetic license'.

Hundreds of missives have landed on the real and virtual doormats of musicians, worldwide. In return, these lyrical legends have exercised their right to reply, correcting and sometimes confirming the authors' summation of what went wrong... or right.

During Lockdown, enquiries were aimed directly at U.K. Punks. These included Cock Sparrer, Cockney Rejects, Splodgenessabounds, Subhumans, Slaughter and the Dogs, Angelic Upstarts, Chron Gen, anti-pasti, Peter and The Test Tube Babies, The Mekons, Chumbawamba, The Rezillos, The Vibrators, Steve Ignorant, Chelsea, GBH, Gang of Four, The Membranes, Vice Squad, Sham 69, U.K. Subs and Ruts DC. Word soon spread like a new rampant virus through the punk community. ''Grammar Free In The U.K. - The Lockdown Letters'' is the result.

A donation will be made to charity from the profits of every copy of this e-book sold, as a thank you to the artists involved and the punk community.

Derek and Dave Philpott are the noms de plume of two ordinary members of the public, working with help from a small family and, crucially, a worldwide social networking community.
