Résumé du livre

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is currently investigating approaches to reduce the frequency and severity of work-related injuries. The incident rates for CDOT are significantly higher than those achieved by some private organizations (e.g., Kiewit) and comparable DOTs. One element in determining the current state of safety practices within CDOT is evaluation of Job Safety Analysis Forms (JSAs) and their current use. This study examined the effectiveness of these forms in terms of worker perspectives and the overall organizational strategies associated with the forms. Study results indicate that CDOT has a mixed record for implementing JSAs. There is a very positive attitude towards the JSAs and a strong willingness by workers to enhance the safety record. However, this positive is balanced by an equally strong negative aspect in terms of actual usage of JSAs in relation to the intent of the program.
