Résumé du livre
This thesis examines how firms evolve, and why they evolve in the way they do. Drawing upon the four-motor framework of Van de Ven and Poole (1995), this thesis examines for the existence of the four dominant motors of change (lifecycle, evolution, dialectics and teleology), as a means of building more complex and complete models of change. A qualitative design was used to uncover the processes of change and examine the development of the firms from a historical perspective. The findings from the research were based on 36 detailed case histories developed from interview data and secondary analysis within the Australian and New Zealand wine industries. A further 20 interviews were carried out with experts in the wine industry, in order to develop a more detailed picture of the business history of the industry. Data was analysed using within-case and cross-case analysis, and was aided by the use of specialised software.
