Résumé du livre
About the Book The Iron Gong is a poetic work that laments on the things that are affecting the people. The book clearly points out these things, which have been neglected and sometimes falsely represented. Not only does the book point out the problems in the society, however, it also recommends solution in a subtle way. The book is about politics, love and life. The iron gong is a very important noise-making instrument in the traditional African societies. It is basically used by town criers to call for the attention of the villagers whenever they have an important message to disseminate to them. The iron gong is also an instrument of power that enforces silence in all the nooks and crannies of the village whenever it booms into the air. People stop their works and discussions in order to listen to the voice of the town crier whenever they hear the sound of the iron gong. The iron gong is also used to assemble people for different kinds of gatherings. The title of this book is used symbolically to reflect the powerful loud noise generated by the iron gong, as it calls for the attention of the people, orders them to be quiet and be attentive to the message being disseminated. The iron gong represents the different lamenting voices in the book.
