Introductory information on feminist theory and sex equality in sport, and the history of women in sport in Canada. The paper analyzes sport, culture and society including discussions of socialization of girls and women in sport; sport, gender and the media; and careers in sport. In addition, it offers psychological considerations such as personality variables of female athletes; competition anxiety and performance; the effects of exercise on anxiety and depression; and exercise behaviour.
