While researching at the Evangelische Archivstelle in Boppard, Germany in November 1997 I found a story written in a book about the Hessen Ortenburger family. That story stated that the family of Just Orttenburger had come from Markt Ortenburg in Bayern. "According to a tradition of this family, the ancestors were once to be expelled from Bavaria, where the Marktflecken Ortenburg was, for the sake of their Evangelical faith. It is not possible to determine further details." So I researched the Ortenburg, Bavaria Evang Church records for all Ortenburger & Ortenburger families. The results are in this book.
