Amphorotia clevei is a cold water boreal species. Fourteen species are described ( 6 new species) 3 are believed tobe extinct. The geographic distribution of these diatomsis discussed with reference to two patterns: one extending across the Northern Boreal the other into more tropical regions via Southern China. Areas covered are Lake Baikal,Siberia, Lake Hoevsgoel, Mongolia and in South East China.
