In feudal Japan, a young samurai's decision to abandon his duty is a more difficult one than it seems. Mysterious circumstances surrounding the suicide of his lover unearth a stream of painful questions, eventually setting him on a spiritual quest as a wanderer. After his unannounced departure, he soon finds himself hunted relentlessly by his father's retainers, and frantically attempts to remain one step ahead. Little does he know that the journey into his soul has already begun, where he is forced to confront a far more imposing opponent: his own fear.
