Abstract: "This work concerns the fundamental problem of the significant reduction of classification trees. Its first contribution is to situate the Gordon approach [6], with respect to ours [13, 14, 15]. The latter is based on the detection of significant nodes in the classification tree. Thus, it was necessary to express very accurately, different notions concerning the searched structure in hierarchical classification. These notions are near but non identical; there are : tree of classifications; valued tree of classifications; hierarchy of subsets and associated tree; hierarchy of subsets and associated dendrogram.
