In his attribution - following the research of J. H. McCash - of the Vie seinte Audree to Marie de France, Carla Rossi reconstructs the material history of the sole manuscript that transmits this text. Thus, a number of clues lead to the convent of Barking where, in 1173, Dame Marie became abbess.
