Résumé du livre

This thesis seeks to assess the important elements in the organisation, development and economic evolution of the area comprising the modern county Wexford under the Anglo-Normans and their decendants, from the time of their arrival in 1169 to the sixteenth century. It will investigate the process of subinfeudation of the lands in the area of modern county Wexford, the imposition of a feudalised society and the development of a manorial economy in this area. Furthermore, it will examine the progression, or regression, of these new developments during the subsequent centuries, with a special emphasis on the development of overseas trade from the ports of Wexford and New Ross.
