Résumé du livre
Hydraulic model studies of the proposed sandbag scour protection for the Single Steel Drilling Caisson (SSDC) were completed at a geometric scale of 1:30. Two tests were undertaken due to the limited time available for use of the basin at the National Research Council Hydraulics Laboratory. ... The model studies were designed to correctly reproduce the forces on the sandbag scour protection under wave action. Surface erosion and the transport of gravel on the submerged berm were also modelled correctly. The sand used over the concrete core to represent the dredged sand fill, and also as the 0.5 m thick sand pad under the ship, was not scaled properly. Since it was not possible to scale the fine sand correctly, the transport of sand on the outer perimeter of the island, settlement of the sandbags, and undermining of the ship are not scaled exactly. Further studies are required to define the extent of scale effect in these processes. The structural properties and filter characteristics of the filter cloth and filter cloth-caisson joint were not modelled -- ASTIS (online) Database.
