For Armin Mueller-Stahl (* 1930) the time that he can spend alone in his studio is liberating: "When I am drawing, time slips out of my body." Born into an ex­ceptionally artistic family, he has been drawing and painting since his childhood-almost on a daily basis. In recent years he has produced many wonderful works: drawings, sketches, paintings, and lithographs dedicated to outstanding literary figures or musi­cians-from Hölderlin to the Beatles-as well as pri­vate journal entries.
