Résumé du livre

If you are a professional (psychologist, speech therapist, OT, PT, teacher, aide, etc.), parent, aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, relative, or friend of a child with autism, this manual is designed to help you learn procedures to increase or teach initiations. Initiations will help your child with autism develop nice, well-rounded social communicative interactions and are likely to help your child develop to very high levels. Research shows that some children even drop many or all of their symptoms and are scored as appearing in the typical range once they are using a large number of initiations. Using initiations result in the kind of back-and-forth communication that is so important for communicative, social, and academic competence. Up until now, your child has most likely been using those important words to request items from you, but not much more. If you want to get other types of information out of your child, you have to set up the opportunity for communication. (Tiré de la page 3 du document)
