Résumé du livre
The collection consists of folders and envelopes containing drawings of mollusks, many in color, with handwritten notes and descriptions. There are also some black and white photographs. The drawings are on paper of different sizes, ranging from 1 1/2 or 2 inches to regular 8 1/2 by 11 inch letter-size sheets. The larger sheets contain several illustrations per page. Many of the drawings are identified or annotated in pencil. Almost all of the material is undated. One small envelope, postmarked 1898, was sent to Katharine J. Bush, Verrill's collaborator on the U.S. Fisheries work. Another envelope, with a 1930 postmark, was sent by A.L. Treadwell to R.W. Miner, curator in the AMNH Dept. of Invertebrates. A torn envelope labeled Bermuda contains photographs. Subjects written on folders of drawings include Purpura lapillus, Loligo pealii, Ensis directus, Littorina, and Nudibranchs.
